Types of Avtron Heavy-duty Encoders
Solid Shaft Encoders
-
AV125 are heavy mill duty encoders for large shafts. This encoder is designed for large motors or brake applications with a large diameter shaft that measures up to 200mm and cable lengths of up to 300mm.
AV125 encoders are resistant to noise interference, have no moving or wearing parts and with protection from short circuits, reverse voltages, and surges.
-
AV485 are severe mill duty magnetic solid shaft encoders with IP66 rated enclosure and protection from short circuits, reverse voltages and surges. They can be easily mounted either on the foot or NEMA (US) standard 56C face/flange.
AV485 encoders have large bearings and excel in tough applications like pulleys. They are also designed to match the bolt pattern and shaft location of older analogue and digital models for seamless upgrades. These encoders are built for extreme conditions, such as being buried in slag, coated in pulp, or exposed to salt water or cutting coolants, and can endure temperatures of up to 120°C.
AV485 is also equipped with an LED light diagnostic status indication feature along with a programmable remote alarm that could indicate alignment, signal, wiring or over-temperature issues.
If you are looking for a hollow shaft encoder equivalent, please refer to AV685 model below.
Hollow Shaft or Shaftless Encoders
-
AV56 Series are heavy mill duty modular magnetic encoders without bearings, and are designed to fit the standard 4.5” C-Face motor flange.
These encoders use the Avtron patent Wide-Gap™ Cam Screw Rotors™, which enable secure mounting and make them easy to install. AV56 encoders are also equipped with diagnostic features that notify users of any errors and potential issues.
The AV56 Series are fully potted and have no moving or wearing parts, which make them low maintenance and reliable.
For applications that require washdown and exposure to water, humidity, and moisture, i.e., marine environments, please check the stainless-steel variants - AV56s.
Additional THIN-LINE III models, ranging from 115mm to 215.9mm, are also available to accommodate various motor sizes.
-
SV850 are heavy duty safety integrity level 2 (SIL 2) encoder, with no bearings.
The SV850 is one of the first safety-rated no-bearing encoders suited for SIL 2 applications. The circuitry of this encoder is fully sealed, and it is equipped with advanced magnetic technology that enables it to work despite exposure to contaminants.
The SV850 encoders have no moving/wearing parts and fit the standard 8.5" FC-Face motors. It can be set to send warnings through its diagnostic settings feature.
-
AV685 are severe mill duty hollow shaft magnetic encoders with 1-1/8” hollow shaft mount. These encoders are built for harsh conditions, including dust, dirt, liquid exposure, and extreme temperatures ranging from 40°C to +120°C.
The durable hollow shaft design tolerates huge axial movements and withstands more shaft runout than standard encoders. They are fitted with diagnostic features, and come with IP66 protection rating.
-
HS40 are severe duty, large bearing magnetic hollow shaft absolute encoders with IP65 ingress protection rating. They support the following signal options: 4-20mA, CANOpen, DeviceNet, J1939, Profibus DP, and SSI.
The HS40 is also immune to oil, dust and dirt ingress and can work between temperatures of -40° to 85°C. They require no batteries nor gears to run.
-
HS45 are narrow through hollow magnetic shaft encoders that are designed to directly mount onto a flange motor frame – with options for most European-style, IEC Standard motors (as used in Australia), as well as US-style motor frames (NEMA).
The HS45 is suitable for harsh conditions that include consistent exposure to extreme temperatures, water, oil, and dirt. They are immune to magnetic and electrical interference from motors and brakes.
-
HS35M – are through hollow compact heavy encoders. These encoders fit shafts from 12mm to 30mm and are fully insulated from motor shaft currents.
The HS35M features two large bearings, one at each end of the enclosure for strength and resistance to damage. Many competitors only use a single bearing or two small bearings side by side. They work in operating temperatures between -20°C to +85°C.
-
HS35X are magnetic encoders designed for mill duty applications and fit shafts from 12mm to 25mm with a shaft insert.
The HS35X offers adequate protection against dust, dirt, liquids, and condensation and comes with up to IP66 ingress protection rating. It also features full diagnostic functions for signal and wiring errors, and can operate in temperature conditions ranging from -40°C to +100°C.
