Miniature Encoders for Compact Applications

Mounting conventional encoders within the confines of small industrial automation machines, such as robotics and drones, can be extremely difficult. But, like most things, it may be about finding the right tool for the right job.

PCA Encoders stocks a range of W&S Miniature encoders suited to make the right fit for the confines of small machines, with three miniature encoder solutions:

The IS240 Incremental Shafted Miniature Encoder 

The smallest encoder within the W&S range, the IS240, is a 24mm incremental encoder. This compact design features a lightweight aluminium cover and body, a stainless-steel shaft, and a total weight of 110g. Though small, this lightweight design is certainly robust, withstanding loading of up to 20N along both radial and 30N along the axial mounting planes. 

The IS240 offers users 1024 pulses per revolution, with a max speed of up to 6000RPM, which is ideal for even the quickest robotic applications. The IS240 provides both HTL push-pull and RS-422A outputs for your systems control monitoring system. 

IS280 Incremental Shafted Miniature Encoder 

The second smallest encoder within the W&S range, the IS280, is a 28mm incremental encoder. Similarly to the IS240, this IS280 features a compact, lightweight design, both aluminium cover and body, featuring a stainless-steel shaft, also weighing in at a total of 110g. Like its 24mm brother, the IS280 is small and robust, tolerating 30N along the axial plane and 20N along the radial plane

The IS280 also offers users 1024 pulses per revolution and a max speed of 6000RPM. This compact encoder provides users with HTL push-pull and RS-422A outputs for your installation's control monitoring system. 

IH360 Incremental Hollow Shaft Miniature Encoder 

Differentiating from our previous shafted encoders, PCA stocks the IH360 hollow shaft encoder. This IH360 is 36mm in diameter with a bore to mount 4mm to 10mm shafts. 

Similarly to the IS240 and IS280, the IH360 is housed within a lightweight aluminium cover and body, with a stainless-steel bore for mounting. It weighs up to 130g and can be mounted to tolerate up to 20N along the axial plane and 15N along the radial plane. The IH360 provides users 3600 pulses per revolution, with a max speed of 6000RPM, and features HTL push-pull and TTL RS-422A outputs for your applications control monitoring system.
